Calculation assumptions
- The annual contribution (and the year-1 lump sum, if any) is automatically capped to respect the $50,000 lifetime limit per beneficiary.
- The lump sum is added to the annual contribution in year 1 only; grants for that year are calculated on the total year-1 contribution (lump sum + annual), subject to the usual annual grant caps (no catch-up of unused prior-year grant room is modelled).
- Grants (CESG, provincial grant and Canada Learning Bond) are estimated based on 2026 net family income thresholds (CESG and CLB: limits of the first two federal tax brackets; QESI: limits of the first two Quebec tax brackets) and their respective lifetime limits — CESG $7,200, QESI $3,600, Canada Learning Bond $2,000.
- The annual return is applied constantly over the entire contribution period.
- Rules and income thresholds may be changed by governments; this result does not replace a personalized analysis.
