“This result is an estimate for informational purposes only, based on 2026 combined (federal + provincial) tax brackets. It does not account for non-refundable tax credits, provincial surtaxes, health premiums, or benefit clawback thresholds (e.g. Old Age Security). This result does not constitute personalized tax advice — consult your advisor.”
Calculation assumptions
- The tax refund is the difference between combined (federal + provincial) tax calculated on taxable income before the contribution and on taxable income after the RRSP deduction, using 2026 progressive brackets.
- Quebec residents receive a 16.5% federal abatement, applied to the calculated federal tax before adding Quebec provincial tax.
- No non-refundable tax credit, provincial surtax, or health premium is taken into account; these generally do not affect the marginal calculation, except where clawback thresholds are involved.
- The RRSP contribution entered is assumed fully deductible for the year in question, within the taxpayer’s contribution room (not verified by this tool).
- The chart illustrates the combined (federal + provincial) marginal rate by taxable income, as a step function following 2026 brackets; the two points show the income (and corresponding marginal rate) before and after the RRSP contribution deduction.
- This result does not constitute an investment recommendation or personalized tax advice.
